3 Tips for Coping With Anxiety

Hey girl, heyyyyy! ๐‡๐ž๐š๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ข๐ฌ ๐š ๐ฃ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ง๐ž๐ฒ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ข๐ญ ๐ญ๐š๐ค๐ž๐ฌ ๐š ๐ฅ๐จ๐ญ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐ฐ๐จ๐ซ๐ค. There are still times when Iโ€™m triggered by someone else due to past trauma. Iโ€™ve also realized that I am triggered more easily when I am stressed or going through a difficult season of my life. In those moments, I can become anxious, BUT I've learned strategies that work for me, and I hope these ๐Ÿ‘ ๐ญ๐ข๐ฉ๐ฌ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐œ๐จ๐ฉ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ฐ๐ข๐ญ๐ก ๐š๐ง๐ฑ๐ข๐ž๐ญ๐ฒ work for you too.

๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿ’ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ ๐†๐ซ๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐๐ข๐ง๐  ๐“๐ž๐œ๐ก๐ง๐ข๐ช๐ฎ๐ž- It helps to ground you in the present when your mind is bouncing around between various anxious thoughts.

๐Š๐ž๐ž๐ฉ ๐๐ก๐ฒ๐ฌ๐ข๐œ๐š๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐€๐œ๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ž- It releases built-up fight-or-flight energy. Using bigger muscle movements can help release this energy so you feel calmer. Also, exercise releases endorphins, which are feel-good chemicals in the brain.

๐Š๐ž๐ž๐ฉ ๐š ๐‰๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ง๐š๐ฅ- Keeping track of your personal life can help you and/or your therapist identify what's causing you stress and what seems to help you feel better.

Some of my triggers are:

  • when people yell or speak to me disrespectfully

  • feeling abandoned or when thereโ€™s a sudden change in someoneโ€™s behavior

  • when boundaries are repeatedly ignored/violated

  • when I can tell Iโ€™m being manipulated
